Johnstons of Elgin – Spring & Summer 2019 at London Fashion Week SS19

This was the perfect way to end day one at London Fashion Week on a Friday evening. The location for this presentation was a very special place which is close to my heart – the magnificent Palm Court at the Waldorf Hilton Hotel. The occasion marked knitwear brand’s first ever spring and summer showcase at London Fashion Week. The international press were invited to view 15 womenswear and 5 menswear looks, all of them produced in Scotland and worn by models.

For SS19, Creative Director Alan Scott experiments with lightweight textiles and knit innovations in cashmere silk and cotton to demonstrate the versatility of cashmere, which can be worn through warm seasons. The island of Ischia makes up the core ingredients for the collection and creates garments made up of ultra lightweight, sporty luxury composing of tropical colours which includes hot pinks, lemons and electric blue. The garments are made for warm climates, to be worn at all occasions – from beachwear, lounging and a days out in town.

“This unique collection, lovingly made in Scotland, retains our signatures of textile expertise, craft and tailoring for which we have become world renowned, whilst showing the fashion world – for the very first time – that the brand is for all seasons,” says Scott.
