Christopher Raeburn AW18: Behind The Scenes at London Fashion Week Men’s

For autumn/winter 2018, Raeburn got his inspiration from the beauty and fragility from the planet’s oceans. Named IMMERSE, the collection draws attention towards responsible design and sourcing to protect the environment and the wearer.

With emphasis on innovative design and sustainability Christopher’s REMADE ethos is further expanded through the use of unique and pioneering materials including protective neoprene immersion suits and Royal Air Force helicopter winchman overalls.

As in past collections, this is a very bold and conscious effort by Raeburn to recycle, re-use and re-construct products to bring them back to life and make them wearable again.

In contrast to the immersion pieces, other REMADE highlights include a contemporary women’s overcoat, top and trouser cut from original Russian Naval blankets with no two piece the same due to the uniqueness and irregularity of the pattern. Danish Naval blankets have been reworked to create a women’s bomber and men’s overcoat and iconic R bag. Finally, parachute pieces have been updated this season with REMADE branding and the iconic 4 R’s (REMADE, REDUCED, RECYCLED, R BURN) tape.
An RAF helicopter winchman coveralls are also redesigned into making anoraks, coats and trousers. An original RAF helicopter emergency pack has been used to make a bag in collaboration with artist and fellow Royal College of Art designer Nikeisha Nelson.

The collection also includes collaborative efforts with cold water surfing brand Finisterre and explorer footwear brand Palladium.
