I had been dying to get my hands on these for a while, and it all started a few months ago, when I had seen this photo on a number of men’s style blogs. I greatly appreciate the appearance of scotch grain leather, particularly as it creates a gratifying textured finish to the leather.

It is always a good idea to view items of interest in person before you buy, just so you are satisfied they look every bit as good in person as they do in the images. There have been a few times I have been left disappointed by certain brands. Too many times. There is nothing worse than unfulfilled expectations, such as when you experience joy over an online order you placed and find yourself extremely disappointed by awful it looks in person. So last week I paid a visit to the C&J store on Jermyn Street to satisfy my curiosity, and immediately fell in love with the Pembroke. No feelings of disappoointment. Just pure elation (I sound like a crazy person, don’t I?). In fact, pretty much every pair of shoes I saw in the Crockett and Jones shop are magnificent to look at.
