A look at John Smedley’s Autumn / Winter 2014 collection

John Smedley is a name that has been around for a long time in our history. It has produced knitwear from its Derbyshire factory, Lea Mills, for two hundred and thirty years. That’s certainly history to be proud of. The new collection, entitled “The Journey”, highlights the brand’s capability to produce classic knitwear with a modern twist and a degree of sophistication. The Journey gets its name from family photo albums dating back to the 1930s involving photographs from travels to the mountains of Tyrol for ski trips, to city adventures in New York and Amsterdam. The observation of architecture along the travels has inspired geometric patterns seen throughout the new collection. Buildings and their shadows has been distinguished using skilful intarsia knitting machines. Chunky knits are available in rich autumnnal colours of Egyptian blue and Italian plum.

Timeless styles are found in the main-line collection available in both John Smedley Extra Fine Merino Wool and Sea Island Cotton. Its high quality yarn, fully-fashioned construction and detailing characterises these classic garments.
