Going backstage at Oliver Spencer was tremendous fun. I have been backstage a number of times and it can be certainly be quite intense but this one was surprisingly very relaxed. There was no panic – not by Oliver, his stylists or make-up team, or anyone else. The models were very relaxed and most eager to enter the catwalk where the world was watching. They were about to do London proud.

For this collection, Oliver looked to 20th century German art theorist Joseph Beuys, and was taken in by his association with the 1960’s Fluxus movement. References are made towards his use of wool and felt, gaining ideas from the outside world. Architectural lines influence the tailoring, creating a new look and fit for the modern day.

A healthy proportion of collection is made in the United Kingdom, and many in our capital city, London. The footwear is also by Oliver, naturally, as you would expect. It included capped-toe Oxford boot, and classic styles featuring electric vibrant blue amongst the traditional colours.
