I think looking at these images will surprise a few people as when it comes to Dr Martens, most people think of the classic smooth leather boots in simple colours. There actually is a huge range of styles using grain leather, suede, faux croc leather, velvet, studs and even embroidery. Shown above are the shoes available to buy in the autumn. I can’t quite decide which ones are my favourites but I especially like the brogues!

Two notable absences from the autumn & winter collection are the signature monogram and the damier checks that we strongly associate with the French luxury brand. Instead there is a shift towards subtlety through the discreet displaying of the logos. My favourite pieces included the tiny two tone satchels. They are very cute and make perfect companions for all occasions. I also love the chrome peter pan collar which would perfectly frame the neck of any outfit, whether it be formal or casual. Some of the handbags uses a clever little mechanism which enables them to expand and provide more storage space.

This collection is about the ladies of the night. Marc Jacobs said it is about “a woman who gets dressed up, but then decides she’d rather stay in her hotel room.”
