In pictures & video: my visit to see Burberry Prorsum AW14 Womenswear

The autumn and winter 2014 collection draws inspiration from The Bloomsbury Girls, gaining influence from decorative art of the Bloomsbury set and Charleston which is the country home for an influential group of associated writers, intellectuals, and artists who created the group. Together they lived, worked or studied together near Bloomsbury in London, over the first half of the 20th century.

The show took place in Kensington Gardens inside a specially built show space and hosted over 1500 guests. The collection showcased a range of individually crafted ready-to-wear and accessories, including beautifully hand-painted coats and bags. I love the poncho cape which is crafted from cotton gabardine, with oversized buttons, gun flaps and a storm shield, which is borrowed from the famous Burberry trench coat we all love. The blanket poncho made from lambswool and cashmere really caught my eyes, as did the shearling coat inspired by traditional rug designs. A truly stunning collection. There is also a new runway bag called The Bloomsbury. It is hand-painted in floral and includes abstract geometric patterns in dusty and saturated shades.

The specially arranged runway live soundtracks are available for download on iTunes.com/Burberry.
