Trying a radically different hairstyle at Toni & Guy’s London Fashion Week Salon

As an official sponsor to London Fashion Week, Toni & Guy play a crucial role in creating a look for many of the top fashion shows. Every season, for as long as I can remember (at least 10 consecutive seasons) it has also hosted pop-up salons within the British Fashion Council’s Designer showrooms where members of the press can book an appointment for a complimentary hair cut. Even more wonderful is how all the label.m products are available free of charge for you to take and try: full-size shampoos, conditioners and styling products. I have long loved label.m products. The things they do for your hair are magical. Like the Resurrection Style Dust which not only cleans your hair but gives you the back-combing effect. In short, wonderfully matted hair volume. The Sea Salt spray is another product I love and use every day. The texture it gives my hair is not matched by any other product on the market.

I had booked a hair cut appointment at this London Fashion Week Toni & Guy salon and when I sat down to get started, we discussed ideas. My hairdresser, Christie, really wanted me to try a quiff. She was so confident it would look quite wonderful with my head shape and beard. I was a little hesitant at first but then reminded myself that it is good to get out of your comfort zone. It is good to experiment and try something new. And what is the worst that could happen? Hair grows back. Feeling a bit brave, I told her to go for it! She smiled with a great deal of excitement, as though a genie had granted her, her wish. She began snipping away!

I have actually tried the quiff before. Once. It was a huge disaster. It just looked awful and I instantly hated it. So much so that I told my then hairdresser to remove the quiff before I had left that salon. I don’t know why it looked so bad. Perhaps my hair along the sides of my face were not short enough.

Undeterred by my past experience, I was convinced to try the quiff once more time. Only, and I do mean only, because Christie was so confident it would look amazing. She was quite passionate about it. I am absolutely delighted I took her advice because it looked absolutely wonderful. I just couldn’t believe how good it looked. It gave my face a highly polished and slick look. All of my friends loved it and urged me to keep it. It also generated quite a number of “Wow, you look incredible” type comments on Instagram too.

Christie only used two products: label.men Thickening Tonic and the label.m Hairspray. The label.men Thickening Tonic doesn’t just thicken your hair but also holds it in place. I am in Paris right now for Paris Fashion Week but when I get home, I am going to learn how to create an equally impressive quiff for myself. Thank you, Toni & Guy. You have inspired me!
