Emma J Shipley: art, evolution and scarves

Emma, a graduate from the Royal College of Art combines the worlds of art, nature and fashion to create some distinctive scarves for anyone who appreciates original designs. Drawn in by the bright colours and lovely detailing, I was tempted take a closer look at them. The quality of the prints are exceptional. She is a perfectionist who loves pencil drawing on paper, and all her designs are first drawn by hand, taking between 2-3 weeks to complete when working on them every day. They are then digitally printed onto the fabrics.

Emma gains inspiration through her love of nature and evolution. The designer launched her luxury label Emma J Shipley 6 months ago in February 2012 during London Fashion Week and I am pleased to report that she is already doing very well – stocking her products at Wolf and Badger, Fenwick and Browns. The future is looking promising, and with good reasons.

Below, is one of her very favourite drawings. She loves gorillas and drew this one on paper.

And here it is, the finished product after having it printed onto a scarf.

Here she is, wearing one of her own creations. It looks delightfully good!

The designer will be showing her SS13 collection at the Vauxhall Fashion Scout Exhibition next month, when London Fashion Week kicks off! I hope to catch up with her then for a chat to check up on her progress!
