My take on MSN’s “10 things women wear that men hate” list

Thanks to the lovely Jenny Hayden (@The_Style_PA) I came across a list compiled by MSN’s Life & Style team a few hours ago. Click here to see it.

So from that list, what do I agree with?

Agree:

  • Harem pants. They are hideous. I never thought the MC Hammer look would come back. It has.
  • Jumpsuits. Great if you have just been sentenced to jail and want a bit of colour. Never wear in public. Ever. Unless you are trying to get a man to avoid you. Or the police (fashion?) to arrest you.
  • Dungarees. Unless you are working in construction, why would you need overalls? They look ridiculously silly anywhere else. In my personal opinion, only the most stylish women can pull off looking cute in them.
  • UGG boots. Nothing shouts “fashion victim” louder than these.
  • Tuxedos. Tuxedos are very manly and just don’t work on women.
  • Fringing. On bags, dresses and jackets. Yeah I hate them. Bah.

And the ones I personally disagree with:

  • Headbands. I love them on women – they make a sexy addition to long, untamed hair. No I am not just saying them because I have a thing for Pixie Lott either.

  • Gladiator sandals. They are quite sexy – so long as you don’t hide your legs away (do not wear with jeans or trousers). It’s funny as I remember one day a few years ago, during a time they were rarely seen, Sienna Miller was spotted wearing them and so many people were quick to make sharp remarks, expressing their dislike. I am sure she is having the last laugh now, seeing how nearly every women seem to be wearing them now on the hot days.
  • Leggings. Right, I find myself questioning the validity of this survey by MSN. Men hate leggings? Really? I am not being sarcastic. Generally, I do not think this is true. Where did they find these men and how many did they ask? Leggings are quite attractive because you get to admire the shapes and curves of a woman’s legs and hell, I am fairly confident most of us men love the legs of women. Just don’t buy ridiculous looking ones like leopard prints or gold/metallic. Tacky isn’t good. Dark colours are usually quite safe.
  • Oversized sunglasses. They look quite cute on women. I am a big fan.

Thanks for the mention, the article definitely got us lot on Twitter talking. I think I would completely agree with your thoughts above.

You are really welcome, Jenny! I always find it interesting learning what men and women like and dislike about the opposite sex when it comes to fashion. :]
