Danilo Gabrielli’s Autumn/Winter 2012 Collection at No 5 Cavendish Square
Classic, sophisticated with a twist is the way to describe the Italian designer’s autumn and winter collection for this year. It is inspired by the Hollywood glamour of the 1940s – drawing influence from the likes of Greta Garbo and Lauren Bacall. Armed with degree in Fashion and Costume Design, Danilo Gabrelli moved from Italy to New York to work in the fashion industry, designing for a number of high end labels before eventually launching his own.
Recently he was in London to host a party at the No 5 Cavendish Square – a luxury boutique hotel and nightclub inside a gorgeous Grade II listed building near Mayfair. I was asked to come over for drinks and canapes on a hot beautiful summer evening.

I fell in love with Danilo’s clothes the very moment I saw them during the catwalk show. He describes it as “a unique mix of rustic Italian sensibility”. The suits, skirts, trousers, blouses and coats really were a joy to look at. Quite clearly aimed at the sophisticated women who wants to look and feel empowered. It is an outstanding collection and one that excites me.
