My afternoon of fun with the ghd team in Covent Garden
It was a Saturday afternoon when I went down to Covent Garden to spend the afternoon with the ghd team who where there to promote their brand and products – particularly the new ghd air hairdryer. There was a beautiful luxury ghd caravan within the The Piazza where they were offering free hairstyle makeovers to anyone who turned up and queued. I was invited along simply to come along, have a look, get my hair done and have some fun. The marketing team had created a 2pm appointment for me so I could go in for a wash, style and blow dry straight away.
Inside the caravan I could not believe the facilities they had which included a washbasin, reception desk, giant HD TV, several barber chairs & hair styling stations for the clients. A member of the ghd air team, Lorna, washed my hair and then used the ghd air hairdryer on me. Brand claims that hairdryer “doesn’t just dry your hair, it uses advanced ionic technology to lock in moisture for softer, shinier results that last for longer, with far less frizzing”. It has a powerful 2100 motor which is double the power of normal hairdryers, and it certainly did dry my soaking wet hair super quickly.
I really liked the look of my makeover and then stayed around to watch others have theirs done. Makeovers are a bit magical – I love seeing people’s looks being transformed into something different and new. It’s almost like creating a new image of yourself. Women end up looking more glamourous and princess-y, with the extra bounce and curls. I absolutely love curls.

Here is what my hair looked like before the makeover. I had no products on my hair at all and when it’s this long, it looks terrible unless I use some hair spray. I look tired in this photo!

And this is what my hair looked like after Lorna had washed, dried and styled my hair. Looking much better. I was pleased!

Here are some ladies after they had got their hair done by the ghd team:

A little video I made of Lorna talking about the ghd air boutique:
And finally, a slideshow and gallery showing you more photos I took during the afternoon!
Thank you to ghd for inviting me to try out their highly enjoyable boutique, and also thank you to the entire ghd air boutique for the company, and for making me feel right at home! You were all lovely!
Find out where the ghd air boutique will be heading to next, and if you want them to visit your city you can find out how to do so at the ghd air tour page. You can also find out more about the hairdryer by clicking here.

VIDEO: the ghd Cinderella at the Midnight Ball TV advert – love it
I love costume and masquerade balls so naturally I love this advert. Reminds me of the one I attended earlier in the year (see here).
Really love the costumes and creative use of make-up in this advert. The models are very beautiful. The way the dress tears itself apart as she runs up the stairs is very nicely done. And you know the funny thing? I actually prefer the look of her hair before she used the hair straightener. Funny because it entirely defeats the whole point of the advert. I prefer women’s hair to be messed up, with thickness and volume. In London it’s fairly common to see girls with messy, long backcombed hair. It’s a much more attractive to me this way. Then maybe I am just odd. In fact, I know I am.
