Tie of the day

I am collecting ties much like how people collect stamps and stickers at the moment. It’s my new love.

Getting dressed head to toe, at TK Maxx using Modbox
I was recently asked to take part in a little project involving buying and styling myself from head to toe using clothes and shoes from TK Maxx. One task was to pick items from Modbox, which is basically a new section found inside selected stores, dedicated to style conscious men which supports the season’s trends and promises to offer at least 60% off the recommended retail price.
I fell in love with this cable knit jumper straight away because I love the look of cable knit. It is chunky, thick and the colour is flattering.

The skinny jeans are quite comfortable as they are elastic and incredibly light in weight. I love how they compliment my legs and could not believe the price tag. £16.99 is a real bargain.

You all know how much I love brogues, and these were a no-brainer the moment I saw them. Some many brogues out there look very cheap – these one don’t. Lovely colours too.

The fabric is quite soft.

The full body shot.

The total cost of the outfit was £146.97, with the most expensive items being the shoes (£89.99) I bought. I certainly love what I picked.
Modbox can be found in the following 15 stores across the country: Leeds, Manchester, Merry Hill, Leicester, Sheffield, Thurrock, Argyle Street, Brixton, Bristol, Belfast, Dundee, Watford, Swansea Morfa , Cork, Brighton.

M&S Style Challenge Week 4: one suit, four styles
We have now reached the final week of the 4 week style challenge created by Marks & Spencer. I have been asked to take part in Marks & Spencer’s Style Challenge contest entitled “What To Wear For An Interview”. It involves 10 bloggers (5 females & 5 males) choosing one staple item – a dress or suit – from M&S then creating an outfit we would wear based on a particular workplace scenario we are told about. Every week over 4 weeks M&S gave us a different workplace scenario and challenged us to show them how we would dress for it. For the final task, the PR team has challenged me to pick a suitable attire to clinch a career-changing role which will wave goodbye to wearing a suit every day.
So I have decided not to use the suit trousers and keep hold of the suit jacket so that I could wear it like a blazer. I am a huge fan of blazers – it would be rare to see me step outside my home without wearing one. I just find that the jackets add a touch of class to any outfit and will make you look polished.

I am also a huge fan of the bow tie. It is such a beautiful accessory to wear and makes any man look like a gentleman. I am frequently complimented for wearing them. A merino wool jumper is perfect for this time of the year when the temperature is usually mild and shifts to becoming slightly chilly. Orange is such a delightful colour and makes the entire outfit more noticeable.

The jeans are from Topshop and I love wearing these because they look great. These pair are slightly elastic too and are very comfortable to wear. The slimmest fit will make your legs look longer, which in turn make you look taller.

There is no reason why men should not embrace socks with patterns. I am wearing a pair with diamond shaped patterns on them. These add style and show you have the confidence to wear them.
Brogues are classic shoes and every single man on this planet would look great in them. I feel every man should have at least one pair of brogues and would do well to invest in a high quality pair. These shoes tell the world you take pride in your appearance.

Now that style challenge has come to an end, I am hoping that I have shown you 4 entirely different ways to wear your suit. You don’t always have to wear a shirt alone with a suit. You can wear a jumper instead of shirt, or you can wear it on top of the shirt. You can also pull off wearing Converse instead of formal shoes depending on what kind of job the interview is for. The most important aspect of styling yourself for an interview is to ensure you look smart, professional and clean.
