The morning started off with a good hearty breakfast with Topman, at The Old Crown Pub oppositing the Old Sorting Office in Holborn, and then near 12pm we headed next door to the venue of the Topman Design SS14 show. This was my first show of the day and I was very excited to be going after being invited to attend. What we got at the show was very interesting and not what I had expected at all but it was a pleasant surprise.

The theme for the SS14 collection is techno cowboy. It is a “Nashville meets the future” inspired look where Western shirts are revived, and embroided with delicate flowers. These are worn with plain dark loose trousers and slim metallic belts. Look closer and the embroidery reveals beauty destroyed with scratch stitching and spiders inspired by B movies from the 50s.

Varsity jackets will also feature in next year’s spring and summer collection and will be made using exquisite silks and metallic yarns. Tailored jackets will have embroidered lapels and shoulders.
