Last week, Smart Turnout opened up its own pop-up space at John Lewis’ flagship branch on Oxford Street after the upmarket department store invited the brand to take part in its UK brands initiative. The pop-up is located in a prime position on the ground floor in the menswear section and will remain there until Tuesday 30th April 2013. This latest development comes just a few months after the British brand opens its very first stand-alone store at Princes Arcade, Piccadilly, London, SW1Y 6DS.

Smart Turnout isn’t just any other heritage brand though. I love how it offers a wide range of bright colours – something that can be difficult to find in the world of smart casual wear for men, and I love how stripes are decorated across all of its products: ties, bow ties, socks, wash bags, watches, belts, braces, jumpers and the rest. The styles are very much influenced by the military and old school.

The pieces on offer have been carefully handpicked from the spring and summer collection to fit what would complement the John Lewis customer. Key products include Half & Half ties, contrast-pocket t-shirts and a large range of bright colourful bow ties. I really want one of those watches and a quilted varsity jacket!
