Watch my Gok Wan Specsavers video interview

If you follow me on Twitter then you probably know that I interviewed Gok Wan a few weeks ago, exactly one day before Specsavers’ Spectacle Wearer of the Year awards. It took place at the Pestana Chelsea Bridge Hotel and was good fun. The video is now online (see below) and is about 22 minutes long. I hope you enjoy it. Gok and Specsavers support Kidscape which is a charity offering help to child victims of bullying. So I had asked him some questions about his involvement, followed by some random questions connected to his life and the world of fashion.

After the interview, he took my Gorillapod (flexible camera tripod), and made it into a pair of spectacles. Pretty funny although I am pretty certain that is not what a tripod is for Gok, haha.

Thank you Gok and Specsavers for the lovely afternoon!

VIDEO: the Specsavers Spectacle Wearer of the Year 2012

Here is a mini video I made right after the awards were over, when the interviews and photo session were taking place on the stage. It was a wonderful night at Battersea Power Station. I will have another post up soon, with photos from the evening.

I have new vision glasses!

It is my first new pair in nearly 10 years. I generally hate wearing glasses and have always wanted to wear contacts but my last attempt to get them in my eyes prolonged my visit into hours of embarrassment until I gave up on the idea. I can see reasonably well without them and only really need them when I am out driving but after wearing my old pair for so long, I felt it really was time to get a new pair. It took several visits to a number of opticians and trying over 50 pair, asking pretty much everyone from staff to customers (they were all so sweet and lovely) for their opinions before I finally decided on these.

My eye test showed that my vision has stayed the same over the near 10 year period, so I guess I am not doing too much wrong in life. I still want to try contacts – particularly coloured contacts. You know how much I adore COLOURS! I just wish I was better at getting them in. The last time I went, I tried and tried until the skin around my eyes actually looked sore. The optician was incredibly lovely, and never lost her patience with me. She asked me to come back again but I never did. I definitely plan on trying again in the future.

Oh, and I bought these from Specsavers. Should anyone at any point ever utter the words, “Should have gone to Specsavers” to me, I shall have to respond with “I DID.”
