An event where I went speed dating with NEXT

A week ago I took part in a speed dating event with NEXT. The idea was to purchase an item from clothing retailer, then style and wear it in my own way at the dating event! It sounded like fun, and it was.

Armed with a gift card given to me, I went down to a NEXT branch on Bond Street to have a look at what they had available at the time. Being someone who has an ever so slight addiction to smart clothes, I went straight to the suits section to look at the range of shirts and suits they had. Believe it or not, that was my very first visit to a NEXT store in at least 5 years. Heading inside after such a long absence really did feel like a shock at the time because NEXT has taken some giant leaps in the last years. So much has changed in the last few years, all for the better. I looked at a number of shirts laid out on display and was most impressed with the designs of the shirts, and the different collars they had. Best of all, it offers a large selection of slim fitting shirts – perfect for me. A good fit plays an enormous part in dressing immaculately and looking confidence. A good fit will look better, and that will make you feel more confident about yourself.

There is one thing I love more than a shirt and it is a blazer. While suit jackets are not strictly blazer jackets, I still wanted to buy a suit jacket to wear casually with jeans. This bright blue slim fit jacket really caught my eyes because it certainly makes a statement when worn. The shade of blue really is slightly bright and immediately draws attention. With the help of the store manager, I played with a number of sizes before finding my perfect fit, and then I went ahead and bought the suit jacket. Job done! I styled it using my existing shirt and knitted tie.

The speed dating event, which took place at Eclipse bar in Kensington, was quite enjoyable. I went there with the view of just having fun and met a few lovely women, and one very peculiar lady who was so drunk she was so emotional that she kept saying negative things about herself. Her two friends were very embarrassed by her actions and tried to cheer her up. Oh dear. Maybe she was just having a bad week. The entire event was so much fun and best of all, I made some new friends. It did not matter that I did not find a potential love match because I am very happy with my life right now.

Feeling so sorry for that emotional woman …. she probably put way too much pressure on herself, and alcohol, which never helps. In any case, you look great Jaime, love the tie and the suit jacket combo. The colour seriously suits you and the cut of the jacket is pretty good too. Looking hot :)

Thank you Amy! I know, I am guessing she was having a bad day or week, and didn’t hold it against her. Poor girl indeed!

Yeah, or perhaps she was just having a rotten week. I didn’t know what to do but chose to just listen and tried to make her feel better. Her friends (who were also participating in the speed dating) were looking mighty embarrassed and tried to get her compose herself but it wasn’t working. And thank you! Blue is my favourite colour. :]
