My make-up for Scottish Style Awards with Laura Mercier at House of Fraser

A little over two weeks ago, I received the most amazing invitation to attend the Scottish Style Awards in Glasgow! Everything would be paid for – my flights, hotel, taxi, food etc. All I would have to do is to accept the invite, and then turn up. It was an exciting opportunity to visit beautiful Scotland and a tremendous honour to attend the awards. What’s even better is I was allowed to bring a friend along, and did so.

As part of my visit, on the evening of the awards the Laura Mercier make-up team had kindly asked me to visit its counter inside Scotland’s largest beauty hall at House of Fraser, to have my face done. This was two hours before I would be getting ready for my big night.

The make-up artist, Alanna, welcomed me and made me feel right at home. I was delighted to hear her Scottish accent, and watch her her work her magic on me. She had asked me what I was looking to have done and I mentioned that I wanted to try foundation and go for a full coverage. Alanna started off with a cleansing foam and applied moisturiser all around my face. Next was the hydrating primer which helps create an invisible layer and enables the make-up to stay on for longer. I expressed my concern about dark lines next to my eyes and she used the secret concealer to reduce the appearance of them. Another concern I voiced was about how my skin always looks ghostly white in flash photography. Her suggestion was to try the baked bronzer and I happily went along with it. My ever so problematic dry lips was fixed using lip silk. Lastly, she used a translucent powder puff to set the foundation and then I was done!

After a look in the mirror, I was quite happy with the transformation and felt like a star. Now I was ready to head back to the hotel and get all dressed up! Thank you Laura Mercier and Alanna!
