From the Aston Martin factory, with love….

Ever since childhood I had always wanted to know a bit more about the luxury car brand James Bond holds so closely to his heart. I was super excited to be heading down to its headquarters and car factory in Warwick when Hackett, one of its partners, contacted me to spend the day with them and drive an Aston Martin.

We took a train from London Marylebone to Bansbury and then caught a hired taxi to transport us to the factory. As we reached the entrance to the driveway leading to the factory, I looked out of the taxi window to spot 5 new Aston Martins, fresh out of the factory, leaving their home to start their lives. Rather like 18 year old teens fleeing the nest to go to university and take on the great big world out there. I had assumed the cars were being driven to their proud new owners.

A very kind and well spoken gentlemen took us through the rich, and very proud history of the brand dating back several decades. The tour inside the factory was mindblowing. We got to see dozens of cars being made, right there and then, for customers all around the world. Every single Aston Martin is made in that factory, and the manufacturer makes all of its car parts. It is British made inside and out. Must confess it made me beam with pride.

Getting in the car for a drive, give me an idea of what it feels like to be James Bond (how could it not?). It took me into another world. A fantasy world. You will never forget how good it feels and until you drive in one, you won’t really understand what I mean.

I am deeply grateful for the trip and thank the kindness shown by Hackett and Aston Martin for this unforgettable experience. It was the drive of a lifetime, and you only live once! The cars truly are dream to look at, and drive in. I better start saving….
