Review: the Acer Iconia A1 – the alternative tablet to iPad Mini

I was given an Acer Iconia A1 tablet very recently to play with. Being an iPad Mini owner, I am able to properly gauge just how good it is. The Acer is a fully featured tablet with an 8 inch screen, built-in WiFi, Bluetooth, rear and front cameras. It runs on the popular Android operating system so you can download apps for Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Vine etc. If you have an Android phone, this uses the same apps. You can also download the Kindle app and read all your Kindle books. Using the YouTube app, you can watch all of your favourite videos too. Browsing through all of my favourite websites is an enjoyable experience thanks to Google Chrome. Download the Dropbox app (free) and you can share all of your photos between your phone, computer and the Acer Iconia A1 with ease.

The screen is not quite on par with the iPad Mini but is still pretty good, and a decent budget alternative if you are not willing to splash out £250 for Apple’s baby tablet. The Acer Iconia A1 sells for £150.

This seem like it will be worth the money (small investment) when you do not want to carry a laptop. But I am such a laptop junkie, i just had to have full capability when traveling or just going to get coffee. Looks wonderful tho.

It is an impressive budget alternative to the iPad Mini – particularly if you like the Android system (I do!).
